The Factory

“The Factory”

Choreographed by Kieron Jina in collaboration with City Varsity Final year performance Students

“The Factory” is a choreographic theatre piece sharing powerful images that provoke thoughts around the everyday mundane routines of human beings in city life: the ‘cold shoulder’ that everyone receives from time to time as well as the demanding and rigorous 9 to 5 working routines. The movement composition will investigate everyday pedestrian movements juxtaposed with an industrial aggression of a factory. The consumption rate that we as humans exist on is causing transparent aggression on many levels. This aggression highlights the current battle of gender roles in the commercial sector. In this creation we play with the notions of “cross-dressing in gender roles”, “nudity as bewildering” and “Systems: people becoming machines, production lines, raw and primal”.
